A General Representation Theorem for Partially Ordered Commutative Rings
An extension of the Kadison-Dubois representation theorem is proved. This extends both the classical version [3] and the preordering version given by Jacobi in [5]. It is then shown how this can be used to sharpen the results on representations of strictly positive polynomials given by Jacobi and Prestel in [6]. In [4] Dubois extends a result of Kadison on representation of archimedean partiall...
متن کاملGENERALIZED PRINCIPAL IDEAL THEOREM FOR MODULES
The Generalized Principal Ideal Theorem is one of the cornerstones of dimension theory for Noetherian rings. For an R-module M, we identify certain submodules of M that play a role analogous to that of prime ideals in the ring R. Using this definition, we extend the Generalized Principal Ideal Theorem to modules.
متن کاملAnti-archimedean Rings and Power Series Rings
We define an integral domain D to be anti-Archimedean if ⋂∞ n=1 a nD 6= 0 for each 0 6= a ∈ D. For example, a valuation domain or SFT Prüfer domain is anti-Archimedean if and only if it has no height-one prime ideals. A number of constructions and stability results for anti-Archimedean domains are given. We show that D is anti-Archimedean ⇔ D[[X1, . . .
متن کاملD-modules over Rings with Finite F-representation Type
Smith and Van den Bergh [29] introduced the notion of finite F-representation type as a characteristic p analogue of the notion of finite representation type. In this paper, we prove two finiteness properties of rings with finite F-representation type. The first property states that if R = L n≥0 Rn is a Noetherian graded ring with finite (graded) F-representation type, then for every non-zerodi...
متن کاملOn Semilocal Modules and Rings
It is well-known that a ring R is semiperfect if and only if RR (or RR) is a supplemented module. Considering weak supplements instead of supplements we show that weakly supplemented modules M are semilocal (i.e., M/Rad(M) is semisimple) and that R is a semilocal ring if and only if RR (or RR) is weakly supplemented. In this context the notion of finite hollow dimension (or finite dual Goldie d...
